Describing places, people and things. Moving past naming something to actually saying what it’s like.

Telling what happened. Talking about the past, in order, without losing the thread.

We Don’t Agree
Opinions, and how to hold one. Agreeing, disagreeing, and giving your reason why.

Auntie Said So
Reporting what other people said. Passing on a message, retelling a conversation, repeating advice.

Abusua Matters
Family. Relationships, roles, and the conversations that actually happen at home.

Chale, Just Talk
No script, no warning. Speaking on the spot, which is where confidence is really made.

You speak, unscripted, and hear the difference for yourself. Then your Certificate of Completion.
How lessons run
Two games and a roleplay. Every week.
Nobody gets fluent by listening. Every Ka Kakra lesson puts you in a situation and makes you talk your way through it.
And no homework. Not one worksheet. You practise by speaking, through your weekly YBK challenge and your speaking group.

How do I know I’m ready for Ka Kakra?
If you can make your own simple sentences without needing to hear them first, you’re ready. If you’re still repeating after your tutor, start with New Year, New Twi and come back to this.
Do I have to have done New Year, New Twi?
Not necessarily, but you do need to be at that level. If you’ve learned Twi elsewhere or grew up around it, message us and we’ll work out where you fit.
How is this different from just doing NYNT again?
Smaller group, faster pace, and much more speaking. In NYNT you follow your tutor’s lead. Here you make your own, and the tutor talks less than you do.
How long are the lessons?
One hour, once a week, live on Zoom. Plus your midweek YBK speaking session.
Will I be fluent afterwards?
No, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. Ka Kakra takes you to A2, which means holding real conversations, giving opinions and telling stories without freezing.
It’s the level that makes B1 possible.
Do I keep my Student Hub access?
For two months after your cohort ends. If you continue with us into another experience, it carries on with you.
What can I do while I wait?
Join YBK. It’s our weekly speaking community and it’s open all year, no intake dates. It keeps your Twi warm so you arrive at Ka Kakra ready rather than rusty.
